Owing to the ongoing virus situation, I only go out once in awhile to restock supplies for the family and to run any errands we need. Each time, I end up carrying a lot of things home because I try to get everything done in one go. Usually, I try to finish ASAP so I do not have to stay out and be exposed to the environment for too long. Naturally, that also exposes me very little to the possible road incidents, which is a good thing.
Recently, I came across a number of road incident videos on youtube and watched a couple of those. These videos are a collection of individual car camera videos submitted to the youtube user, where they combine them into a collage of incidents that happened during that month in Hong Kong. Two channels that I had been watching are:
車CAM特警
Road HK
As I watched those videos, it is surprising how often incidents happen, ranging from simpler stuff as close encounters, erratic driving and unique pedestrians to more serious instances such as scrapes and side-swipes, as well as crazy crashes. More surprising is how often these incidents happen at places I usually drive to, how often I was watching them and then thinking “Ah that is so-and-so location” or “wasn’t I there not too long ago?”
As a precaution, do get a car cam. At least if something happens, you can get it on file and it may be used as proof if you were the victim. Last but not least, to all you drivers, drive safe and good journey~
