I remember I started working at home after the company needed to scale down operations. It was back in 2017, the company I worked in was a regional brand distributor. A combination of government policies and changing trends, the industry slowed and the size of the market became evermore smaller.

Not all companies following a traditional industry are able to adapt in time, especially if the industry itself is the one being phased out. In the time when online businesses are becoming a norm, combined with delivery services being more convenient and direct, traditional distributors becomes increasingly obsolete. Thus, downscaling the company operations means we actually save a lot, only needing a virtual office in the end. By working at home, I can further cut out any overheads while keeping operations streamlined! So I thought…

Working at home actually need adjustment. In the beginning it was relaxingalmost FUN – I can usually take things leisurely, enjoy a longer morning with a nice cup of coffee before I start work. Eventually however, I became aware of issues at home that I need to take care off…and there are more tasks to deal with – cleaning, awaiting home delivery or repairmen, stocking up food supplies, cooking and cleaning – and this is IN ADDITION to writing proposals, accounts and  administrative work…Eventually I did setup a more comprehensive schedule than expected to handle both home and company tasks, spreading them out as even as possible across a 5-day work week. For a while before the routine kicked in, it almost always feel there are so much to do, but with so little time…

Thus I begin my journey to share experiences of being a Stay Home Hubby – the laughs and the frustrations, useful know-how and skills for home I learnt, opinions, and more. Be sure to check out my fellow blogger’s posts on the site. I am sure many of these experiences, you will surely identify with.

To all the Stay Home Hubbies out there:

Keep up the good effort, men!
